Today’s blog is easy for me. This evening I’ll be the guest of a book club that just finished reading my first novel, Foreseen. I’ll read an excerpt from the sequel and answer questions. I really enjoy those things, but what I like best is hearing from the readers – what chapters they liked, what characters they loved, which parts simply missed for them. Positive or negative, I love it all. I’m getting energized just thinking about it!
Which prompts me to make one other point today. If you’ve read a book, whether written by me or some other emerging author who isn’t well known yet, the best gift you can give them is leaving a quick review on Amazon, Goodreads or where ever you bought the book. It doesn’t need to read like a professional review, just a phrase or two saying whether you liked it and why. And if you didn’t like it, that’s good information for me and potential readers as well. It all comes down to interaction.
