Noted as having “a native talent for imaginative storytelling that her readers find unfailing enjoyable,” (Midwest Book Review), and “skilled at crafting a nuanced page turner,” (The Kirkus Review), Terri-Lynne Smiles creates science fantasy novels filled with realistic characters, a quick pace, and a bit of a puzzle for the reader and characters to chew on. With a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from Denison University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan, she left the corporate world of a health care attorney to spend her days writing fiction. Terri-Lynne lives in Ohio with her husband and a sweet but stupid dog. Her website is www.terrilynnesmiles.com.
As a child, I never cared for the books little girls were supposed to enjoy, but devoured the works of Edgar Allan Poe, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, J.R.R. Tolkien, Ray Bradbury, and Agatha Christie, to name a few. I was raised on Star Trek, wanting to grow up to be a Vulcan and visit distant planets – in a logical way, of course. I love the show Fireflyand most of the writing on Sherlock and Dr. Who. I play Minecraft and Portal, even though I’ve been told I’m too old. I have difficulty holding a single fact in my head – including the names of my own characters – but give me a concept and I’ll latch onto the idea and never let go. There’s a bunch of information about me on my full bio, but this gives you a better idea of who I am.
My first set of novels, The Rothston Series, is four continugous science fantasy thrillers exploring the lure through “adepts” who change the decisions of those around them. Think about the feel of the old Twilight Zone episodes – real world with implausible, eerie events.
