Day 69 of Gratitude – The Good Ones

Authors, in general, don’t make much money. Given that, there are a surprising number of people with their hands out asking for those hard-earned royalties in exchange for vague hints that a book promotion on their site will lead the author to fame and riches. Many of the pitches would make the proverbial used-car salesman blush.

But there are others and, today, I had the pleasure of working with one. Kathy Meis (@katmeis) is the founder of Bublish (@bublishme), a book connection site that uses book bubbles – short explanations from the author tied to a passage of their book – to intrigue potential readers. Kathy is the real deal – extremely knowledgeable about the rapidly changing digital book market and looking for concrete ways help readers and authors connect. I exchanged emails with about some new services Bublish is considering and found it refreshing to be asked what works and what is appealing, rather than told that Brand X of Snake Oil will solve the world’s problems.

Thanks Kathy! Keep up the good work!
